A 25-year-old woman was found with life-threatening injuries outside of her home in Tamworth, Staffs, in the early morning hours of Friday, the 20th of November.
The woman had been stabbed repeatedly and then run over with a vehicle, according to investigators. Sadly, there was nothing that emergency crews could do to revive the victim, and she died shortly after help arrived on the scene.
The name of the victim is not known, but a suspect was arrested at the scene under suspicion of murder. The name of the suspect is also unknown.
A neighbour that lived nearby seemed to believe that the victim and the suspect lived in the same house and recently moved to the area.
“It’s awful, a woman’s been killed who had her whole life ahead of her. No one knows who they are. I think they only moved in a month and a half ago. Those houses were only finished in the first lockdown,” the neighbour said, according to The Daily Mail.
The suspect was also injured, and was taken to the hospital in handcuffs, but then later released into police custody.
“I know that a lady was meant to move into one today, but couldn’t because that woman’s body was lying on the doorstep next door. I think the whole estate has been rocked by it. After we were all woken up by the blue lights, I saw the man get into an ambulance with cuffs on. I couldn’t see anything wrong with him,” the neighbour said.
The resident also said that they heard from others in the area who said that the man stabbed her then drove over her several times to “make sure she was dead.”
Forensic teams are now investigating at the victim’s home and collecting evidence to learn more about what led to this tragic outcome.
A 25-year-old mother of two who lives nearby said that she hear shouting after midnight on Friday morning. She heard a man’s voice, but at first she thought that it was builders who had recently been working late into the night nearby.
“The next I knew was when my partner who works as a security guard came back at 6am and said they had found a dead body in the road. Everyone around here is new. They had moved in about a week or two ago. I had not introduced myself to them properly but they just seemed like a lovely couple,” the young mum said.
A statement from the Staffordshire Police confirmed that they have begun an investigation into the murder.
“At 1.25am this morning, police were called to reports that a 25-year-old woman had been seriously injured. Despite the best efforts of emergency services staff, the woman sadly died at the scene. A man, from Tamworth, is currently in hospital receiving treatment. The woman’s family are being supported by specially-trained officers,” the statement read.
Friends, family, and neighbours began leaving flowers at the scene after the incident was reported.
