A 53-year-old man has been formally charged following the shocking incident at Liverpool FC’s Premier League trophy parade that left dozens injured.

Merseyside Police have confirmed that Paul Doyle, from the West Derby area of Liverpool, has been charged with multiple serious offences including:

  • Causing grievous bodily harm with intent

  • Wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm

  • Attempting to cause grievous bodily harm

  • Dangerous driving

He is scheduled to appear before Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

79 Injured, Youngest Victim Aged 9

The crash occurred on Monday as thousands of fans packed the city centre to celebrate the club’s 20th top-flight title. A grey Ford Galaxy drove into a crowd on Water Street just moments after the team bus had passed through nearby streets.

Police confirmed that 79 people were injured in the incident. Victims ranged in age from just 9 years old to 78, with seven still in hospital in a stable condition.

Investigation Ongoing

Detectives had been given additional time to question Doyle earlier this week. Merseyside Police have stressed that the incident is not being treated as terrorism and that no other suspects are being sought.

This is a developing story. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
