Counter-Terrorism Police Carry Out Another Raid In Greater Manchester

Armed officers have arrested two people after swooping on a house in Hyde as part of a counter-terrorism investigation.

Armed police flood Inkerman Street

Residents were left stunned as dozens of armed police — some wearing Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officer (CTSFO) uniforms — descended on Inkerman Street on Monday evening. Locals described hearing “lots of shouting” from around 7pm as officers prepared to enter the property.

Police vans and armed response units quickly surrounded the address. At least two men were seen being led away in handcuffs.

Neighbours left terrified

One resident said she ran outside after her neighbour warned her armed police were behind her house while her children were playing outside. “It’s scary so close to home,” she said. Another woman told how her neighbour looked out and saw what they thought was “the army with big guns” rushing down the street.

A man who lives nearby said: “It’s scary when this is on your own front door. I walk past there every day with my dog.”

Two arrested in counter-terror swoop

Witnesses confirmed that two men were arrested and taken away in a police van. Officers carrying evidence bags were also seen going in and out of the property.

The raid comes just days after three Iranian nationals were arrested across Rochdale, Stockport and Manchester during a separate counter-terror operation supported by the SAS. It is not yet known if tonight’s raid is linked to those arrests.

Police remain tight-lipped

The Metropolitan Police, which leads UK counter-terrorism investigations, has been contacted but has so far declined to comment on this latest raid. Greater Manchester Police has not yet issued a formal statement either.

One police van remained at the scene late into the night as searches continued. Residents say the area remained cordoned off as officers worked into the evening.

More updates are expected as this fast-moving investigation continues.
