YouTube Star AngryGinge Has Been Arrested

Police have confirmed that popular internet personality Angry Ginge was arrested at Silverstone over the weekend following an incident that left a Formula 1 car damaged just days before the British Grand Prix.

Thousands of pounds of damage reported

The 23-year-old, real name Morgan Burtwistle, was taken into custody after a classic F1 car belonging to the BWT Racing Point F1 Team sustained significant damage while on display. The vehicle, a key feature of the Grand Prix weekend, was reportedly accessed by individuals who climbed into it, causing what police described as “several thousands of pounds worth” of damage.

Northamptonshire Police said they were called to Silverstone Circuit on Friday, July 4, after reports that the display car had been tampered with ahead of Sunday’s main race.

Three men detained and questioned

Officers quickly launched an investigation and identified three suspects in connection with the alleged damage. Burtwistle was arrested alongside two other streamers, known online as Chazza and SamHam, aged 25 and 27 respectively.

All three were taken into custody and interviewed at Northampton Criminal Justice Centre. Images shared on social media showed Burtwistle being led away from the event by police. He was later released without charge, along with the others, following what officers described as a “thorough investigation.”

In a statement, Northamptonshire Police said: “Three men, aged 23, 25 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage to a vehicle and taken into police custody. Following a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident, all three men were released with no further action.”

Online reaction and streamer response

The arrest sparked a strong reaction from fans of the internet personality, who is best known for his humorous online rants and gaming content. Burtwistle later addressed the situation in a livestream, wearing an orange jumpsuit and joking about the experience.

“For sitting in a car, they got us,” he told viewers. “They locked us up for watching somebody else sit in a car. They tried to say it was criminal damage – 30 grand, they tried to say.”

Despite his light-hearted tone, Burtwistle maintained that he had not caused the damage and denied any wrongdoing. His comments appeared to suggest he had been arrested more for association than for direct involvement.

No further action taken by police

While the incident initially raised concerns about security around high-value vehicles at major sporting events, police ultimately chose not to pursue charges. No one was injured during the incident and the damaged vehicle has since been removed from display.

Silverstone officials have not commented on whether any changes will be made to their event security procedures. Meanwhile, Angry Ginge and his fellow streamers remain active online and have returned to their usual content following the incident.
