A man who once appeared on a Channel 4 reality show has been jailed for two and a half years after subjecting his former partner to a series of violent and terrifying assaults.
Convicted of GBH and ABH
Jack Woodman, 33, was found guilty of one count of grievous bodily harm and two counts of actual bodily harm following attacks on his ex-girlfriend Crystal Taff. The couple were together for five years and share two children. During that time, Woodman assaulted her multiple times, including breaking her jaw, ripping out her hair, and threatening to burn her with hair straighteners.
‘That is not the man he pretended to be’
Taff bravely gave evidence in court about years of sustained abuse. She described one attack inside Woodman’s Bristol pawnshop where he punched her in the face, leaving her unable to eat and in agony. “He said if I didn’t shut up, he’d knock the other teeth out,” she told the jury. An X-ray the following day confirmed her jaw was broken.
On another occasion, after a family meal, he pulled out a clump of her hair and left her with a bald patch before pinning her down on a bed and snapping heated straighteners next to her face. “I was petrified,” she said. “This wasn’t an uncommon thing over five years.”
Former TV appearance
Woodman previously appeared on Channel 4’s Bodyshockers with Katie Piper, where he attempted to have a large back tattoo removed. Taff’s family said: “Woodman has now got what he always craved – to be famous. But that fame has come at a massive price.”

‘Victory for all women suffering abuse’
Taff’s stepfather called the verdict a victory for victims of domestic violence: “Woodman made Crystal’s life a living nightmare until she finally snapped and ran away with their two children.”
Despite denying the charges, Woodman was convicted by a jury of seven women and five men in just two hours.
Her family added: “All he was ever worried about was himself and his relentless pursuit of being famous. The jury saw through the lies.”
