Three Brits Face Firing Squad For ‘Smuggling Cocaine Inside Angel Delight Sachets’

Three British nationals are facing the death penalty in Indonesia after being accused of smuggling nearly a kilo of cocaine into Bali hidden inside packets of Angel Delight.

Jonathan Collyer, 28, and Lisa Stocker, 29, were arrested at Denpasar International Airport last month when airport customs officers noticed something suspicious in their luggage. When the dessert sachets were opened, they were allegedly found to contain 993 grams of cocaine — with an estimated street value of £270,000.

Just 48 hours later, a third Brit, 31-year-old Phineas Float, was taken down in a sting operation at a hotel car park in Denpasar. Police posed as delivery workers to arrest him. He is now being tried separately from the couple.

All three are being held in custody and have been brought before a panel of judges at Denpasar District Court, where they sat side-by-side in silence. Their trial resumes on June 10, when witnesses are due to give evidence.

Prosecutors allege the group had smuggled drugs into Bali on at least two prior occasions. This time, the journey started in England with a layover in Doha, Qatar, before arriving in Bali.

If convicted, the three could face execution by firing squad. Indonesia enforces some of the world’s toughest drug laws, and over 500 people — nearly 100 of them foreigners — currently sit on death row for drug-related crimes.

Lindsay Sandiford, a British grandmother caught with cocaine at Bali airport in 2012, remains on death row to this day. Indonesia’s last executions took place in 2016, but authorities have repeatedly defended the country’s zero-tolerance stance on narcotics.

Neither the suspects nor their legal teams have commented publicly since the court proceedings began.
