Gunfire Erupts On Liverpool Streets As Man Chased By Car In Midnight Shooting

Chase Through Toxteth
A quiet night in Toxteth turned to chaos when gunfire echoed through residential streets during a terrifying car chase in the early hours of Sunday morning. CCTV captured the moment seven shots were fired as a man was pursued by a vehicle through Kingsley Road, Seaport Street, and Millennium Road.

Police were called to the area just after midnight on October 5 after reports that a bullet had smashed through the window of a family home on Kingsley Road. When officers arrived, they found shattered glass across the pavement and a shaken family who, by sheer luck, had escaped injury.

Seven Shots Fired
Initially, detectives believed the shooting was a targeted attack on the property, but witnesses told a different story. Neighbours said the chase began near Kingsley Road, where a stray bullet struck the house “by accident” before the pursuit continued through nearby streets.

One resident described hearing “seven bangs” as the gunman fired from a moving car, with a van later found to have been hit. “A car was seen chasing a man up the road, they were firing a gun at him,” said one witness. “It’s frightening. Children play out here. My kids are in the garden most days, and now I’m scared to let them out.”

Forensic Search And Evidence Found
By Sunday morning, Millennium Road and surrounding streets were sealed off as armed police and forensic teams combed the area. A fingertip search uncovered three bullets along Seaport Street, carefully collected and sealed into evidence tubes. An armed response officer stood guard as investigators documented every detail.

The owner of the home hit by the stray bullet said she did not believe her family had been targeted. “It was an accident,” she told reporters quietly, still shaken but thankful no one inside was hurt.

Community In Fear
The incident has reignited fears of gang-related violence in the area. One local resident said: “There are three gangs around here. It doesn’t happen often, but it’s not okay. More needs to be done before someone gets hurt. The community needs to work with police to stop this.”

It’s not the first time gunfire has rocked Toxteth this year. In June, shots were fired at a vehicle nearby, though no one was injured.

Police Appeal For Information
Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ball from Merseyside Police condemned the “reckless and dangerous” act, saying it was only luck that prevented tragedy. “The risks of firing a gun in a residential street are clear,” he said. “There were people inside the home at the time, and it’s only through chance alone that nobody was harmed.”

Officers continue to carry out door-to-door enquiries and are urging anyone with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage to come forward. “Gun crime has been significantly reduced in recent years,” DCI Ball added, “but every single incident causes fear in the community. Information is key to finding those responsible and taking weapons off our streets.”
