British Woman Becomes Second To Die At Famous Ibiza Rocks Hotel In Space Of A Week

A 33-year-old British woman has tragically died in her room at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in San Antonio, prompting a police investigation into the sudden death.

Emergency services were called to the popular adults-only hotel around 6.30pm on Thursday evening (25 April), where paramedics found the tourist in cardiac arrest. Despite administering CPR for approximately 40 minutes, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman, whose identity has not yet been publicly released, reportedly suffered from pre-existing health conditions and was fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) — a device used to monitor and correct abnormal heart rhythms. Although an official cause of death has yet to be confirmed, sources close to the investigation have said there are currently no signs to suggest suspicious circumstances.

Civil Guard officers are preparing a full report to be submitted to a local court, which has opened a judicial investigation into the incident.

This marks the second death at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel this week. On Sunday, a 19-year-old Italian tourist of Turkish origin died after falling from a fourth-floor balcony. Reports suggest she had returned from a night out and was attempting to climb into her room via a balcony after forgetting her key card. She lost her footing and fell, with her body discovered around 9am that morning. Police inquiries into that incident are also ongoing.

Ibiza has seen a number of similar tragedies in recent years, often involving young tourists falling from hotel balconies after nights of partying. In one high-profile case, 19-year-old Scottish student Emma Ramsay fell to her death from the sixth floor of a hotel in the same area last summer. A 19-year-old Italian tourist fell to her death from the fourth-floor on Sunday.

Ana Gordillo, President of the Association of Hoteliers of Sant Antoni, said:

“We hope this tragic death will not be repeated. However, we still do not know exactly what happened in this latest case.”

A spokesperson from the Ministry of Tourism echoed growing concerns from local authorities, saying:

“This practice [balcony climbing] worries us a lot. We are committed to bringing more responsible tourism to the Balearic Islands.”

Authorities are urging holidaymakers, particularly young partygoers, to exercise extreme caution and avoid dangerous stunts while abroad.
