Body found in hunt for missing girl, 21, last seen at popular UK seaside resort

A body has been discovered in the search for missing 21-year-old woman June, who vanished from Bournemouth over a week ago.

June was last seen on the evening of Wednesday 30 April at around 8.35pm, prompting a large-scale police search. She had been wearing a blue hooded jumper and a red and white skirt when she disappeared in what police described as an “out of character” incident.

Discovery at Turbary Common

Dorset Police confirmed that a body was found shortly before 11pm on Wednesday 7 May in the Turbary Common area. Although formal identification has not yet taken place, officers believe it to be June. Her family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.

The death is not being treated as suspicious. Dorset Police have referred the case to HM Coroner, as per protocol in such circumstances.

Police Statement

Chief Inspector Darren Moores of Dorset Police said:

“Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of June at this extremely difficult time. I would like to thank all those involved in the search efforts to locate her, including volunteers from Dorset Search and Rescue (DorSAR). There will still be an increased police presence in the area as police activities continue.”

Search Efforts and Public Appeal

Prior to the tragic discovery, Dorset Police had launched an urgent appeal to help locate June, describing her as:

  • 5ft 2ins tall

  • Slim build

  • Last seen wearing a blue hooded jumper and a red and white skirt

The public were urged to check dashcams, CCTV, and other footage from the Bournemouth area on the evening of her disappearance.

Community Support
