Baby Dies Following ‘Neglect Incident’ at Legoland Windsor

A five-month-old boy has tragically died after suffering a cardiac arrest at Legoland Windsor, in what authorities suspect to be a case of neglect.

The incident occurred around 1pm on Thursday, leaving the baby in critical condition. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but sadly succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

A 27-year-old woman from Witham, Essex, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of neglecting a child and causing unnecessary injury. She has since been released on police bail until 26 July.

Detective Constable Zoe Eele of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit commented on the distressing situation: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the family of the boy who sadly died in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest. We are supporting them as best we can at this extremely difficult time.”

The authorities are working closely with the Legoland Windsor Resort team and are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident. Specifically, they are seeking those who were queueing for the Coastguard HQ boat ride between 11:30am and 12:45pm on the day of the incident.

“We are investigating a distressing incident involving a very young child at Legoland Windsor earlier this week,” said Detective Constable Eele. “We are working closely with the team at Legoland Windsor Resort but would like to speak to anyone who may have information about this incident.”

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the police by calling 101 or via the website, quoting reference number INC-20240502-0977. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or through their website.

“We have made an arrest in relation to this incident and are not looking for anyone else as a suspect. I would ask for the public to please avoid speculation about the incident and to respect the boy’s family at this deeply upsetting time,” added Detective Constable Eele.
