Woman Found Dead in Camden Home as Police Launch Murder Manhunt

Detectives are hunting for a killer after a 69-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in her north London home.

Jennifer Abbott, a familiar face in the Camden area who was also known professionally as Sarah Steinberg, was discovered in her house on Mornington Place at around 6pm on Friday. She had not been seen for several days, last spotted walking her beloved Corgi three days earlier.

The discovery has stunned the local community, with officers now urgently appealing for help from the public to piece together her final movements.

Post-Mortem Confirms Fatal Stabbing

A post-mortem carried out on Sunday revealed Jennifer had died from what police described as “sharp force trauma.” No arrests have been made so far, and the motive remains unclear.

Detectives are keeping an open mind but believe a piece of jewellery may hold the key to cracking the case.

Rolex Watch Missing From Home

Investigators revealed that a distinctive diamond-encrusted Rolex watch appears to have been taken from Jennifer’s home. Officers released a photo of a similar model and are urging anyone who may have seen or been offered the watch to come forward.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: “While detectives are keeping an open mind about the possible motive for the murder, they are appealing in particular for information about a Rolex watch which they believe is missing from Jennifer’s address. It has a distinctive diamond-encrusted face.”

Appeal for Witnesses in Camden

Senior officers are now urging anyone who was in the area at the time to speak up, stressing that even the smallest detail could be vital.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart said: “We are working closely with our colleagues in the homicide team to establish exactly what happened, and it’s incredibly important that we hear from anyone who may have knowledge about how this awful death occurred.

“Were you out in Camden on Friday? Perhaps you had been coming home from work, or at an event nearby? Did you see or hear anything around Mornington Place that struck you as being unusual?”

Community in Shock

The quiet residential street has remained cordoned off while forensics teams continue their work at the scene. Locals have left floral tributes outside Jennifer’s home, with one note reading: “Rest in peace – a kind and elegant woman.”

Detectives say someone in the area must have seen or heard something.

“No piece of information is too small,” said Chief Supt Stewart. “It could be the crucial clue that leads us to identify Jennifer’s murderer.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact police via 101 or speak anonymously to Crimestoppers.
