A violent brute who attacked his girlfriend during a shocking jealous outburst has been jailed.
Jealousy spiralled into brutal violence
Marvin King, 33, turned on his partner after accusing her of being unfaithful. The thug, from Everest Road, Wigan, strangled the terrified woman and threatened to kill her dog in a sickening ordeal.
Chester Crown Court heard how King had become increasingly controlling during the relationship, which began in August 2024. The abuse exploded into violence last October when he snatched her phone and demanded she delete all men from her social media.
Victim choked and spat on before terrifying knife threat
When the victim tried to get her phone back, King strangled her with his hands around her throat as she struggled for breath. He then spat in her face before grabbing a kitchen knife and threatening to kill her dog. She tried desperately to flee but he blocked her escape twice, refusing to let her leave.
In a terrifying stand-off, King only backed down when she agreed to remove men from her accounts.
Police arrest leads to trial and conviction
The traumatised victim bravely reported him to police the next day. Following a three-day trial in April, King was convicted of intentional strangulation, assault and making threats to commit criminal damage.
Jailed and banned from contacting victim
He was jailed for two years and slapped with a four-year restraining order banning him from contacting his former partner.
Police: Domestic abuse will never be tolerated
Speaking after sentencing, PC Craig Simmonds praised the victim’s courage. “This was an extremely traumatising experience for the victim. I hope King’s jail sentence and restraining order provide her with reassurance.”
“Domestic abuse is never acceptable and will never be tolerated. We urge anyone suffering in silence to come forward. Help is out there.”
