Urgent search launched to find missing 12-year-old girl not seen for over 24 hours

A major search operation is under way to locate a missing 12-year-old girl from Oldham who has not been seen for over 24 hours.

Poppy, whose surname has not been released, was last spotted at around 3pm on Tuesday 6 May 2025 on Roman Road in Oldham. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are now urgently appealing to the public for any information about her whereabouts.

Description and Clothing

Poppy is described as:

  • 4ft 5ins tall

  • Skinny build

  • Long, dark brown hair

At the time she went missing, she was wearing:

  • A purple and pink striped long-sleeve Montirex top

  • Grey Nike leggings

  • Black and white Nike trainers

  • Fluffy socks

Frequent Locations

Although she is from Oldham, police say Poppy is known to regularly visit Manchester city centre, especially the area around Piccadilly Gardens.

Police Appeal

Greater Manchester Police shared the appeal on social media alongside a photo of the missing girl. A GMP spokesperson said:

“We are becoming increasingly concerned about Poppy, and we would like to locate her to ensure she is found safe and well.”

Anyone with information on Poppy’s location is urged to call police immediately on 101 quoting log number 2001 of 06/05/2025.
